Research, resource, network & collaboration services

While GLC is familiar with a wide range of family/youth issues like education, counselling, leadership, mentoring, service-learning etc, our niche specialty is in the area of Youths-At-Risk, Youth Offenders, Youth Intervention and Rehabilitation.

4th DIMENSION THINKING Seminar (Oct 2010):

At this Design Thinking Seminar, participants will learn all about 4th Dimension thinking techniques that will enhance the essential 4th element, the systematic & dynamic use of the subconscious mind to achieve ‘eureka’, also recognised as the ‘Eureka! Method’. This translates to more strategic, innovative & creative problem-solving & solution-focused outcomes for your organisation, businesses and communities. The beauty of it is that nearly anyone can learn how to do this.

A brief history of human problem solving can be broken down into 4 clearly defined stages, or dimensions, as below…

1D Thinking - Dominated by survival, basic needs and wants. Fight or freeze and flight is an example of the 1st dimension.
2D Thinking - Sometimes called vertical or logical thinking, this was a great leap forward from thinking in the 1st dimension.
3D Thinking - ‘Thinking outside the box’, or Lateral thinking, idea generation often based on ‘brainstorming’ guidelines to solve problems.
4D Thinking - The newest dimension in the evolution of idea generation. 4D thinking goes one step more to generate ideas and problem solutions that are ecological and beneficial to the user, in business or personal life. Sometimes called ‘Dolfinizing’.

AOL© is a premium youth services agency that works exclusively with offending-prone youth, and have been serving schools, institutions & prisons over the last 2 years. There has been overwhelming demand for their services and are expanding their staff pool of Trainers & Mentors.

Under their scholarship scheme, AOL© will be hiring & enrolling staff into related academic courses (Youth Work, Counselling, Psychology) up to a grad diploma or bachelors degree level. This scheme will benefit those who want to fulfill their calling in youth work, while at the same time developing their skill sets & competencies. STUDY WORKSHOPS (Term 2)

GLC is pleased to roll-out its 8th signature Study Program called ‘Listen To Learn’. Students will get to learn how to use effective listening skills to transfer info-data into note-taking & learning assimilation. Research has shown that effective listening increases learning by up to 60% - an ultimate example of working smarter, not harder! Learn to ’switch-on’ during classes, ’sponge-sorb’ info, and ‘internarticulate’ concepts effectively to gain academic mastery in a short time!

Students will also get a complimentary assessment tool that will profile their listening & learning intuition, developed by founder Dr Melanie McDonald.

Dates: 15 - 17 March (school holidays)

GLC is pleased to announce the inauguration of SOYM - a premium academy for pastors, leaders and youth workers. SOYM features a biblical curriculum that integrates the psycho-social-soma-spiritual arenas of youth work, making it holistic and comprehensive. SOYM addresses 21st century zeitgeist and youth landscape, helping us interpret post-modern youth culture. SOYM will help pastors and leaders develop their youth work in light of the whole church, exploring different modern ministry models and contextualisations. SOYM’s training approach is highly experiential and interactive, complimented by field-work, internship opportunities and observational visits.

SOYM will launch in May/June 2010 with the pioneer batch of students.

As a training framework, SOYM employs a flexible structure to accommodate students’ needs. There are 3 types of schools, namely:

Full Time school (1 mth, non-residential)
Part Time school (3 mths, 3 nights weekly)
Church-based training (a tailored framework to suit particular church timing & needs)

GLC’s school-based schedule is experiencing an overload of school training, mentoring and motivational engagements, and has stopped taking in general invitations from schools except for unique and exceptional cases.

GLC is pleased to open year 2011 Term 1 and 2 calender for bookings now, as we wind down our 2010 calender as of Feb 2010.

EXTENDING GLC’s YOUTH SERVICES PARTNERSHIPS

GLC Pte Ltd is looking to extend our coalition of youth services platforms by forming strategic partnerships with counter-parts and agencies who are doing school and community based youth work. We hope to double our current network of 5 agencies to promote holistic and professional youth services to institutions, schools and the community sectors. GLC hopes to share our overwhelming workload of school engagements with other like-minded service providers, and have ready clients to refer immediately . This would help GLC’s long-term vision of moving away from school-based programs toward training and supervision work.
